“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3 (ESV)
We are a family with a sincere passion and desire for the supremacy of God in everything. As humans we fail miserably at living that out in our daily lives and are humbled by the fact that God loves us, forgives us, and chooses to use us to further his kingdom on this earth despite our imperfection. We, like the apostle Paul, feel like we are the chief among sinners. We realize that all that we are and have is a sole result of God’s divine providence. He is sovereign and in control of every aspect of our lives, working all things out for His glory and our good (Job 42:2, 23:13-14; Romans 8:27-20). He has granted everything to us that pertains to life and godliness (II Peter 1:3).
Tim grew up in a Christian home in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his parents and two sisters. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at the age of 6 years old. Mindy grew up in a Christian home in Danville, Illinois with her parents and two sisters. She came to know the Lord as a young child as well. On August 1, 1987, our home was established. God blessed us with four children, Andrew, Garrett, Logan, and Zachary. Andrew resides in Minneapolis, MN. Garrett, his wife Abby and their 3 year old daughter live in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Logan and his wife Anna live in Northeast Minneapolis, MN. Zachary lives in Fridley, MN. We are so blessed to have these young men and young ladies in our lives and thank God for them.
Our walk with the Lord…
As we reflect back over the years, we see 2000-2003 as a pivotal time in our Christian walk. It was through the strong Bible teaching we were receiving from our elders at Eden Baptist Church in Savage, Minnesota and a book by John Piper called Future Grace that God began working in our hearts and giving us a desire for a closer relationship with Him. Our desire to be more involved with our local church (not out of sense of duty or obligation but out of love and obedience to our Savior and a sincere desire to identify with other believers) grew within us, and we began to faithfully live our lives for the Lord. Little did we know that the messages we were hearing (at church and in the books we were reading) were laying the foundation for the future plans that God had for us.
In 2006, we read a book together as a family, and God used the message of that book to literally change the way we lived our lives and the way we viewed the material things of this world. Through reading Money, Possessions and Eternity by Randy Alcorn, God made it clear to us that our lives, money, talents, and possessions were all His and were given to us to be used as tools in service for His glory and purposes.
In July 2009, we took the first step into full-time vocational ministry when we went to Living Waters Bible Camp for Tim to serve full time as kitchen manager. While at LWBC, we endeavored to work very hard to learn ministry and to be true servant leaders. As we look back over the years spent at LWBC, we see how God was molding, teaching, and training us for the work He had planned for us to do in the future.
In June 2012, we were approached by three different people, independent of each other and within a one week time period, about a need for leadership and direction at a camp ministry in the Bahamas. We met with two of the board members of the ministry in July to discuss the needs of the Adventure Learning Centre and Camp and how we might fill those needs. In late August, after being advised by the board members, we took Logan and Zachary and flew to Nassau, Bahamas. We spent a week on New Providence Island talking to the ALC staff, learning about the ministry, touring the island, and acquainting ourselves with the culture. We returned to Wisconsin changed and determined to prayerfully consider what God would have us do. It did not take long after we returned from our trip to see that it was quite evident what God was directing us to do. In mid September, we notified the board and the ALC director, Mark Wallace, of our desire to take the next step in working with the ministry at the Adventure Learning Centre and Camp. In October, we returned to Nassau to meet with the ALC board. We were able to share our burden for ministry with the board at that meeting and shortly after returning to Wisconsin, we received word from the board that they unanimously agreed to allow us to come and join the ALC staff as director of the Adventure Learning Camp. We were amazed at the loving, faithful way God smoothed, guided and directed us in every step of our journey to The Bahamas, and on January 16, 2013 we began the work at Adventure Learning Camp in Nassau, the Bahamas.
In September of 2018, we completed our work at the ALC and returned to the US. We are currently residing in the Charleston, South Carolina area with our sister and brother-in-law as we complete school and wait for the Lord to direct us to where He would have us go or what He would have us do next.
We are humbled by the realization that our lives are directly orchestrated by our loving, wise God. We take no credit for anything. Praise belongs solely to God!
Please pray for us as we seek to further the kingdom of God on this earth wherever God leads us!
