Need Encouragement?

(Prepare to be encouraged…)

Lay your head down tonight
Take a rest from the fight
Don’t try to figure it out
Just listen to what I’m whispering to your heart
‘Cause I know this is not
Anything like you thought
The story of your life was gonna be
And it feels like the end has started closing in on you
But it’s just not true
There’s so much of the story that’s still yet to unfoldAnd this is going to be a glorious unfolding
Just you wait and see and you will be amazed
You’ve just got to believe the story is so far from over
So hold on to every promise God has made to us
And watch this glorious unfoldingGod’s plan from the start
For this world and your heart
Has been to show His glory and His grace
Forever revealing the depth and the beauty of
His unfailing Love
And the story has only begunAnd this is going to be a glorious unfolding
Just you wait and see and you will be amazed
We’ve just got to believe the story is so far from over
So hold on to every promise God has made to us
And watch this glorious unfoldingWe were made to run through fields of forever
Singing songs to our Savior and King
So let us remember this life we’re living
Is just the beginning of the beginningOf this glorious unfolding
We will watch and see and we will be amazed
If we just keep on believing the story is so far from over
And hold on to every promise God has made to us
We’ll see the glorious unfoldingJust watch and see (unfolding)
This is just the beginning of the beginning (unfolding)

“The Glorious Unfolding” by Stephen Curtis Chapman

If you read or listened to the lyrics of this song, you may have been moved or encouraged as you heard yet another song with a message of encouragement to help you as you fight your personal battles and struggle through life’s difficult circumstances.  The song is indeed very encouraging, but if you stop at the self-centered message and not see the God-centered message of the song, we think you are missing the bigger theme of the song.

For us the focal point of the song is this:

God’s plan from the start
For this world and your heart
Has been to show His glory and His grace
Forever revealing the depth and the beauty of
His unfailing Love
And the story has only begun

Recently a young lady shared this song with us.  She had come to us in her struggling with some trials and difficulties.  As we sat and chatted with her, we attempted to be a blessing and encouragement to her, but instead she blessed us with this song and its message.

As we seek to further the Kingdom of God on this earth by ministering to the Bahamian people and those that come to serve the Bahamian people, we do face times of difficulty and discouragement, but God is faithful.  He brings us encouragement and help when we need them and in ways we least expect it.  We can rest assured that everything is working out for our good and God’s glory as we remain faithful to Him.

Blog Changes:  “Picture Update” and “Follow & Email Sign-up” tabs

You may notice, there is no “picture update” in this post.  That is because from this post forward, we will be posting pictures under the “Picture Update” tab at the top of our web page.  Feel free to go to that page by clicking on the tab to see in pictures what has been going on with us.  We have combined the follow us tab and the email sign-up tab.

“What’s New” and “Prayer”

We have updated the “Prayer” and the “What’s New” pages.  We invite you to check them out by clicking on the tabs above.

We thank you so much for your continued support of us with your prayers, attention and financial giving.

God bless!

With Two Answers to Prayer, God Blesses Us!

Answer to Prayer Number One

Did you notice the fundraising thermometer in the sidebar?  We are almost half-way to our fundraising goal for our support/ALC&C promotion trip scheduled for October/November.  Isn’t that exciting news?  We feel so incredibly blessed and encouraged by such generosity.  We are almost speechless as we try to come up with the words to say to all of you who sacrificially and lovingly gave.  Thank you and praise God for His provision!

With the funds we have received so far, we have been able to cover 3/4 of our airfare and nearly all of the cost of the pastor’s conference that we are attending in Nashville, TN at the beginning of our trip as a way to relax and re-energize ourselves before the 6 week trip.  We are fully confident that God will provide the remaining funds needed to cover car rentals, the last two legs of airfare, and gas.

If you have not had the opportunity to share this burden with us and would like to, you may do so by clicking on Shepherd’s Staff Mission Facilitator’s logo in the side bar. Please make a “ministry trip” note in the comment box when you make your donation online or in the memo section of your check.  Your gift is 100% tax deductible.

Answer to Prayer Number Two

Many of you may know that there are few things I  (Mindy) treasure more than spending time with my family.  Time as a family with all our children brings me more joy than anything money can buy.  So when we were able to use airline miles to purchase tickets for Garrett and Logan to come home for Christmas this year, I was more than excited.  My joy and excitement was dampened mildly (Ok, I concede…a LOT) by the fact that Andrew and Katie would not be coming here this year nor would we be going to Minnesota to see them.

While I was selfishly entertaining thoughts of pity for not getting to be with all my children at some point this year, God spoke to my heart and lead me to pray for contentment.  I prayed for contentment, and God answered my prayer in the sweetest way I could have ever imagined.  A couple weeks ago, Andrew emailed us and let us know that he was able to get off of work the week of Christmas.  Since Katie is a teacher and already had the week off, they were free to travel. They now have tickets to come to The Bahamas for Christmas, and we are going to be together as a family. Words cannot begin to describe my excitement.  For this mom, that is the best gift I could have ever received!

Quick picture update of the last week

We have only a week’s worth of pictures to update you with.   Don’t fortet to check out our Prayer Request page and the What’s New page.  We have added a couple prayer requests and posted a few more pictures of the cottage construction progress.

In the last post, we mentioned Zachary's computer he bought in parts and then built himself last winter quit working. We replaced the motherboard, but that was not the problem. It is still not working. We have a new processor coming this week. Hopefully that will fix the problem. Please pray!

First day of school for Zachary started on the traditional Minnesota first day of school, Tuesday, September 2nd. This is the second to the last first day of school for the Seeley Family Academy. After 14 years of homeschooling, we are down to one student. Wow. Where does time go?

Besides getting caught up with email and phone calls and working on planning for future groups and the Joy Bible Camp Reunion, Tim has been working on finishing the Adirondack chairs construction project. 4 chairs nearly done, 6 to go.

Friday evening we were able to have the new facilitators that live on site over for taco night. We were able to get dinner prepared and served in the one hour between power outages.
